Where to start with SCUZZBEAT
The term ‘post-punk’ is meaningless, used to describe everything from minimalist art rock to chaotic noise acts to groove-based party bands; a catch-all for anything guitar-based, British, and slightly agitated.
It tells us nothing.
If critics are going to insist on genre labels, they should at least reflect what’s actually happening.
What follows is a cluster of confrontational, contemporary British acts, punk in attitude but structurally closer to groovy noise rock, walls of fuzz, anchored by a consistent rhythmic drive: filthy, oversaturated and proudly unclean with a pounding, propulsive groove that makes the songs feel built for dancing as much as moshing.
