Plantoid are a Brighton-based band who first came together while studying in Lincoln operating under the name Mangö. Releasing music in 2019, the group established their blend of intricate progressive rock and psychedelia, relocating to Brighton in 2021. Not long after the move they signed to Bella Union placing them in a lineage of adventurous and distinctive artists, and they adopted the name Plantoid.
At the centre of the band are Chloe Spence (vocals/guitar), Tom Coyne (lead guitar) and Louis Bradshaw (drums) with expanded line-ups on stage, as well as producer Nathan Ridley whose continued presence since the band’s early days has been an important part of Plantoid’s evolution. The band’s debut album Terrapath was released in 2024 establishing them as one of Brighton’s most interesting new bands, the formal arrival of a group that had been preparing for years. In 2025 the band announced their second album FLARE, which arrived on 30 January 2026.
Reviews for FLARE were very, very positive with the band clearly showing great confidence in what they do. Often described in terms such as progressive rock, psych, math-rock or jazz-rock, Plantoid move across styles with strong musicianship, unusual arrangements, and fantastic chemistry.
